The Daily Driver JK

One of the last things I did before I quit working for Chrysler was to buy a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. I built it over the next year or two and put 85,000 miles on it as my daily driver in just four years.

Stomping Ground: Southeast Michigan

Vehicle Year: 2008

Make: Jeep

Model: Wrangler

Engine: 3.8L V-6

Transmission: Automatic

Transfer case(s): RockTrac 4:1

Front axle/differential: Dana 44 e-locker

Rear axle/differential: Dana 44 e-locker

Axle ratio: 4.10

Front suspension: AEV 3.5-inch lift

Rear suspension: AEV 3.5-inch lift

Tires: Had several: BFG M/T, Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ, Cooper A/T

Wheels: AEV

Bumpers and armor: Hanson

Other cool stuff: Warn PowerPlant winch, Corbeau heated seats, Tuffy Security console and rear cargo lockbox, Rock Crawler remote reservoir shocks, SuperChips programmer, Bestop tube doors

Why you built it: I love the every day usefulneess of the 4-door Wrangler. The Rubicon came with most of the good off-road hardware I wanted (lockers, 4:1 t-case, swaybar disconnect). Great off-road for most stuff.

What you would do differently: I'd get one with the 3.6L Pentastar or plan on a V-8 upgrade from Day 1.

Cool! Neat JK, I think I would get a bright colored one, like the neon green.
